How do I troubleshoot modem disconnects?

Try restarting the computer. Make sure the phone cord is firmly plugged in. Try updating the modem drivers from computer or modem manufacturer's website. Ask the local Phone Company to do a data test on the phone line. Also remember that your connection may function better with a shorter phone connection cable. Try to keep this cable less than 10 feet long.

How do I disable call waiting?

Place" *70," (be sure to include the comma) in front of the number you are dialing. The comma includes a one second pause, allowing the modem to find dial tone. (Check with your local phone company for the code to disable call waiting. It can vary depending on where you are located).
